Oxidized copper and sterling silver Jerusalem cross pendant on an oxidized sterling silver beveled oval cable chain. Made to look primitive and perfectly imperfect, like an old treasured medallion, this is a unique gift for confirmation, adult baptism or any Christian. This pendant is completely made by hand.
The Jerusalem cross dates back to the 11th century when the Crusaders captured Jerusalem establishing Christianity in the area. The Jerusalem Cross symbolized Jesus Christ and the city of Jerusalem which is the root of Christianity. Some historians believe the large center cross represents Jesus Christ and the four smaller crosses represent the four gospels. Other historians believe the five crosses together represent the wounds Jesus suffered on the cross - the four smaller crosses represent the nail holes in His hands and feet and the large cross represents His pierced heart.
This necklace is approximately 18inches long. The cross is approximately 1 inch tall and 3/4 inch wide.
